February Business Highlight: Sun Valley Mustard Company
Sun Valley Mustard has been handcrafting gourmet mustards in the Wood River Valley for over 28 years. As Idaho’s most decorated specialty food company with numerous local, national and international awards, their products can be found in restaurants and grocery stores throughout the Northwest.

In October 2011, Josh Wells led a group of investors in the acquisition of Sun Valley Mustard to revitalize the iconic brand and create a sustainable, locally owned and operated business with national reach. Since then, they have opened a new production facility in Hailey, created jobs in the area and they have increased sales by over 240% with the introduction of their products into Albertson’s, Whole Foods, and Harmon’s Markets. Sun Valley Mustard proudly donates products to local charities and fundraiser events.

Josh Wells is a former attorney who moved to the Valley in 2011. He has operated a number of businesses and most recently launched a boutique photography operation called alpinfoto, which focuses on high-end architecture and real estate imagery.

When asked for advice for other business owners, Wells said, “Find something you love to do. You’ll probably do it well. Do your homework, know what you’re getting into, and always keep moving forward. You can make assumptions, projections and plans. At the end of the day, success is dictated by hard work and your drive and determination to keep moving forward. And… a little luck helps.”

Josh is actively involved in our community. He is on the Board of Directors for the Building Material Thrift Store. He has also worked with Expedition Inspiration, Sustain Blaine, Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence, The Wood River Land Trust, Sun Valley Road Rally, The Sun Valley Heritage and Ski Museum and a host of other non-profits.

Sun Valley Mustard has recently been featured in Sunset Magazine, Family Circle, The Idaho Statesman, and Sun Valley Property News.

On February 1, 2013, they will launch their re-designed website which provides easy navigation, introduces a recipe and blog page, and streamlines online ordering efficiencies. Look for their new website at
